A shot of the giant banner ads hanging all over Boston's South Station touting the original iPad:
At about 5 pm tomorrow, of course, all those banners will be out of date. Brings to mind the memorable scene at the end of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The Slytherin are about to be awarded the annual house cup and the Hogwarts Great Hall is bedecked with banners in their house colors. But a last minute award of points to Harry & Co. gives the cup to Gryffindor. Headmaster Dumbledore waves his wand and the banners are magically transformed to Gryffindor's red and yellow. Does Steve Jobs have a little magic up his sleeve?
And for what it's worth, the dozen or so giant banners are by far the largest and most prominent advertising campaign I have seen in the station in the past 10 years. Don't overlook the power of Apple's well-produced and nearly ubiquitous ad campaigns for the iPod, iPhone and now the iPad when analyzing the success of the iOS platform.
