More evidence Apple-driven agency pricing hurts consumers

Inexplicably, there still seems to be some confusion about the impact of so-called agency pricing on ebook consumers. Hello, Jeffrey Trachtenberg. Driven by Apple, all six of the major book publishers are now setting ebook prices directly to consumers themselves and sharing 30% of the revenue with ebook platforms like Kindle, Nook and iBooks.

That's resulted in a massive price hike and the frequently illogical case of ebooks that cost more than their print counterparts, as Audrey Watters over on the ReadWriteWeb blog is the latest to document.
