Been waiting for this since I got my first Kindle

Great news for science fiction fans via the io9 blog today. British publisher Orion is going to put thousands of out-of-print scifi works by classic authors online as digital e-books. Authors like Robert Silverberg, Arthur C, Clarke, L. Sprague de Camp, Samuel R. Delany, Philip K. Dick and many more. Editions will be be sold through links to the major ebook retailers so sounds like multiple formats, the publisher says. And the official announcement is on the new, not yet open for business "SF Gateway" web site is here.

This seems like a better, more targeted move by publishers to establish an online hub and fight disintermediation than some of the more generic sites that have been announced. The SF Gateway will also have something called the SciFi Encyclopedia and forum areas for fans to congregate.
