The $28 billion book market gets an e-growth spurt

It ought to be getting harder and harder for skeptics of electronic books, folks like MacMillan CEO John Sargent Jr., to maintain their opposition. A new publishing industry report finds all categories of books experiencing growth, led by the areas with the highest e-book sales. Who knows where we'd be if the big six publishers hadn't imposed their massive price hike "agency" pricing model.

The publishing industry has expanded in the past three years as Americans increasingly turned to e-books and juvenile and adult fiction, according to a new survey of thousands of publishers, retailers and distributors that challenges the doom and gloom that tends to dominate discussions of the industry’s health.
