Google and Samsung had said they planned to have a major announcement on October 11, widely rumored to be the unveiling of the third-generation Nexus smartphone. Today, the companies announced -- without much explanation -- that they would delay the announcement. Here's the official statement:
Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

So is that sensitivity over Steve Jobs death? Problems with demo hardware? Software glitches in the upcoming "Ice Cream" update of Android? We don't know.
I'll note for Apple fans who seem to have a hard time with these sorts of things that Google has never specified or confirmed exactly what they planned to announce on the 11th and that the rumored date for actual delivery of the next Nexus phone was in November, which may not be changing.
UPDATE: Event back on for next week, October 19 in Hong Kong.
