The Orange View (on hiatus) Because Apple is great but it isn't perfect

Does Microsoft have a better TV strategy than Apple

Wired's Tim Carmody is making the argument that Microsoft, with its huge installed base of tens of millions of XBox 360 game consoles, is better positioned than Apple to crack open the TV market. He's making a lot of assumptions about Apple's not-yet-announced TV plans, but it's a thought-provoking analysis:

Microsoft has been more successful at partnering with telecom operators like Comcast and Verizon because it already has a large installed hardware base and because it has software developers who can work with content companies to create compelling Xbox-native experiences. It’s also not limited to the domestic market, but can roll out content partnerships globally. That’s where Apple needs to get in order to bring a comparable product to market., December 6, 2011
